Texas Hold’em hand hierarchy

Your final hand is the best five-card combination available from your two hole cards and the five community cards.

  1. Royal Flush A♥ K♥ Q♥ J♥ 10♥ The highest possible hand.
  2. Straight Flush 9♠ 8♠ 7♠ 6♠ 5♠ Five consecutive cards, all one suit.
  3. Four of a Kind A♠ A♥ A♦ A♣ 7♠ Four cards of the same rank.
  4. Full House K♠ K♥ K♦ 9♣ 9♦ Three of a kind plus a pair.
  5. Flush A♦ J♦ 8♦ 4♦ 2♦ Five cards of one suit, not consecutive.
  6. Straight 9♠ 8♥ 7♦ 6♣ 5♠ Five consecutive ranks, mixed suits allowed.
  7. Three of a Kind Q♠ Q♥ Q♦ 7♣ 2♠ Three cards of the same rank.
  8. Two Pair J♠ J♥ 4♦ 4♣ A♠ Two different pairs plus a kicker.
  9. One Pair 10♠ 10♥ K♦ 7♣ 3♠ Two cards of the same rank.
  10. High Card A♠ J♥ 8♦ 5♣ 2♠ No other hand; the highest card plays.

When players have the same hand type: compare the relevant ranks, then the kickers. Suits never outrank one another in standard Texas Hold’em. If the best five cards are identical, the pot is split. An ace can also be low in A–2–3–4–5, the lowest straight.
